About CHEER Foundation

CHEER stands for China Europe Education and Research Consortium. It has more than 400 members (higher education institutions, organisations, leading professors and experts) across Europe and China. It was founded in 1995, with the aim of financing and facilitating scientific research between China and Europe. Since 1999 its operation has expanded by the establishment of the CHEER consortium in order to facilitate both secondary school and higher education exchanges and recruitment. In addition, CHEER is currently active in various fields such as international education, resource integration, marketing analysis and research, education consulting and education investments. With offices in both Europe and China we are trying our best to facilitate all our members around the world. In April, 2005, CHEER successfully organised the 1st Sino-International Schools Forum in Shanghai. It was a great communication and exchange between Chinese and Western secondary education establishments. Over 500 top secondary school headmasters and headmistresses gathered together at this forum, sharing their teaching and administrative experiences and discussing educational reforms and the efforts of globalisation being made by secondary schools. In April, 2006, the 2nd Sino-International Schools Forum, organised by CHEER, was successfully held in London. This was another milestone for international secondary education. Currently CHEER is actively working together with Dulwich College, Eton College, The Girl’s Day School Trust, Roedean School, St. Paul’s Girls’ School, Oxford High School, The Royal High School, The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, Beijing No. 4 High School, Shanghai High School and other top secondary schools in both the UK and China. CHEER believes that its mission is not only to import Western educational ideas to China, but also to develop Chinese culture in the West to boost mutual understanding and development.
