History of Zhaoqing City:
The date of Zhaoqing's founding is uncertain, but it existed as early as the Qin (221-206 B.C.) and Han (206 B.C. - 220 A.D.) Dynasties, when it was known as Gaoyao (高要). In the Sui Dynasty (581-618 A.D.), Zhaoqing became known as Duanzhou (端州) and served as an important administrative region and military base. In 1118 A.D., Northern Song Dynasty Emperor Huizong bestowed its current name upon the city. "Zhaoqing" means "beginning of auspiciousness".
About the Job:
You must work on Sundays; however, there is a three and a half hour break at lunchtime, which could be used as worship and fellowship time. There is about 18hours in a workweek: Friday afternoon meetings with your Chinese teachers to plan your lessons, then the evening teaching, as well as Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, and again on Sundays. Chinese are accustomed to a three-hour lunch break and so school lets out to allow for the “Chinese Siesta.” You will seldom be asked to work from Monday thru Thursday so you will have four days to travel and see the sights.
