    The Dangshan Crisp Pear is well knowed at home and abroad for its big size and a small core, for its bright golden colour and elegant shape, for its thin peel and juicy flesh, and for its crispness and sweetness. It's flesh is nutritious, containing many kinds of amino acids, vitamins and minerals necessarily needed by man; besides, on the average about 13% of a pear is glucose. Eating Dangshan Pears frequently is extraordinarily beneficial to man.

 

                             

    Dangshan Pears can be eaten raw or boiled, and suitable for the old and young. "Eating raw pears can relieve man's internal heat or fever; eating cooked pears can nourish the five internal organs (usu. referring to the heart, liver,spleen,lungs and kidneys)". What is more important , Dangshan pears are surprisingly and unimaginably medicinal, and have found favour in the eyes of different personalities of the strata of society for hundreds of years. In Volume 30 of Compendium of Materia Medica, there is a detailed account for that as followings: Dangshan Pears can help produce saliva and slake thirst, relieve phlegm and moisten lungs, relieve man's internal heat or fever, which have all been clinically confirmed. Of course, Dangshan Pears can be medicinal in many other respects.

     Although named after the two mountains------Mang & Dang, Dangshan is well renowned for its rich production of crisp pears. Dangshan used to be a barren land, part of the Huanghe River Inundated Area, but today it has changed into a world-famous fruits county, a quite prosperous pear metropolis.
