Lying in the eastern part of China, Huangshan is a famous for its marvelous and beautiful scenery. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in China.
The landform of Huangshan is a kind of typical granite mountains and forests. It was the result of several movements of lithosphere as well as the work of nature during the long geological age. 77 peaks are more than 1,000 metres above sea level. Granite limestone towers and oddly-shaped rocks spread all over the scenic area.
The legendary pines, oddly-shaped rocks, phantasmagoric sea of clouds, hot springs and winter snows have own Huangshan the world famous reputation of the five unique views. Huangshan has brought together all the strong points other mountains have: grand, strange, baffling, arduous, steep, flourishing, quiet and spacious.
Huangshan is abundant in biological resources with 1450 kinds of vegetables distributing in the scenic area. The amount of wild animals is as many as more than one hundred. Its stratum, geologic structures and relics of the glacial period are natural heritages that are of scientific value.
Huangshan abounds in sites of cultural interest. Countless poems have been created to sing praises of Huangshan. The stone engraving can be easily found on the cliffs, making of a corridor of art together with the natural environment. Huangshan is a place propitious for giving birth to great people, such as Jian Jiang and Shi Tao. Both are representatives of Huangshan School Painting in the early Qing Dynasty and had a great effect on the traditional landscape painting. Huangshan had a great appealing to certain masters in the modern times as well, such as Huang Binhong and Liu Haisu, who composed great amount of masterpieces in Huangshan.
