Nine Chapters on Mathematical as its name apparently suggests is divided into nine chapters so it is called Nine Chapters on Mathematical Procedures; it was edited and revised by many people for a long time, and was finished as a definitive edition till the Eastern Han Dynasty (about 1 A.D.). The later mathematicians began to study and research mathematic knowledge from Nine Chapters on Mathematical Procedures. In Tang and Song Dynasty, Nine Chapters on Mathematical Procedures was regulated as a textbook by official decree, and then it was block-printed by the court of North Song Dynasty in 1084, which is the earliest printed math book in the world.
