Qinhuangdao Foreign Languages Professional College is the only state-run institution of higher education in Hebei that focuses on language instruction. The college is located in Nandaihe, a famous sightseeing location adjacent to Beidaihe, China¡¯s summer capital. The campus covers an area of 35 acres, and its buildings take up an area of 180,000 square meters. To the north of the school lies the Dai river, and 600 metres to the south lies the golden beaches of the Bohai sea. Here we have clean air, a beautiful environment and are conveniently located in terms of both private and public transport.
The college is an advanced foreign language school that provides 3-year courses with a range of majors, including English Education, Tourism, English Language, Computing, Business, Secretarial for Foreign Affairs and public relations, Air-Hostess Training, Business Japanese and Business Russian.
Currently there are around 5000 students residing in the school, including 79 long or short term foreign students. With more than 30 societies, recreational activities in the school are abundant.
Altogether there are 256 staff members, including 45 professors, associate professors and 86 lecturers. There are also around 20 part-time professors and 8 foreign teachers. Another ten of our staff members are studying inside or outside the country for Masters or PhD¡¯s.
We always think that it is important to develop people¡¯s talents and to do so by using talented people. With this strategy, we focus on the ¡°foreign languages, types of profession and technical skills¡± model of running the school. And with this strategy we can concentrate on developing foreign language talents that is very practical, high quality and even multi-talented.
Recently, student enrollments at the college have increased dramatically, and we not only have students from 25 of China¡¯s provinces studying here, but also foreign students from around the globe. Using placement programs, advanced career guidance methods, career fairs and providing a path for students to convert their studies to university courses at other educational institutions, our school¡¯s graduate employment rate is consistently above 95%.
In recent years we have received many awards, including the Provincial Teaching School Award, the Civilised And Safe Campus Award, the award of one of the 10 best Schools For Creating School Culture And Environment and 10 other awards. For many years we have achieved excellent ratings for having a civilised environment, both local and provincial.
This is a wonderful place for living and working. You can enjoy a beautiful sea, fresh air, a tranquil life and a variety of natural and man-made sights.
1 The college is only 600 meters from the beach.
2 The air is clean and fresh, and the landscape is picturesque. You can watch the sunrise, fishing boats going out to the sea, and try delicious seafood.
3 It is so much fun here. You can go swimming in the sea, sun bathing on the beach and fishing. These are all free. You can also go on the sea by boat or yacht, take a cable car, sand-ski or grass-ski, and visit beautiful sights. These will be at your own expense.
4 Not far away are the famous sightseeing locations of Beidaihe, China¡¯s summer capital, Laolongtou, the starting-point of the Great Wall where it goes into the sea, Shanhaiguan, the ¡°first pass under heaven¡±, and the place where China¡¯s first emperor Qinshihuang sent a flotilla to the sea to seek the secret of eternal life. You can easily go to these recreational places to enjoy yourself.
5 The college is about 3-5 hours outside of Beijing, depending one whether you travel by car, bus or train. Here you can feel the difference between a peaceful seaside town and a bustling metropolis..
